The Administration of Cuttington University has appointed Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Charles Wesley Ford, Jr., who will propel the academic programs at Cuttington University.
According to the University’s President, Dr. Browne, the new appointment comes after a thorough consideration of his credentials, output and administrative competence in higher education.
He further maintained that Dr. Ford, an alumnus of CU, has the requisite credentials to head the academic programs at the institution, especially in the area of curriculum development; and as such, he [Dr. Browne] has no doubt that the new VPAA will demonstrate those qualities that will enhance Academic Affairs at Cuttington.
The CU President made the disclosure during the weekend, when he spoke to a cross-section of staff and faculty members of the University during programs marking the official celebration of Cuttington University Faculty Association Day, an occasion which was held at his residence on the University’s Suakoko Campus.
Dr. B. further argued, “With the wealth of experience in top management positions at various institutions in and out of Liberia, I am convinced that the new VP for Academic Affairs would offer his best in improving the quality of our academic programs here at CU.” Dr. Ford is a seasoned academician and a career administrator.
Meanwhile, tracing the history of the new Vice President for Academic Affairs, it has been sufficiently established that Dr. Charles W. Ford holds a Bachelor’s degree in Biology from Cuttington and a Master’s and Ph.D. in Computer Science, and was one time visiting professor of calculus at CU.
Prior to his new appointment, Dr. Ford served as the fourth President of the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University. He served as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dean of Arts and Sciences, Dean of the College of Information and Mathematical Sciences, and Chairman of the Department of Computer Science at various American Universities.
Dr. Ford said he was gratified to be back here at Cuttington University after 40 years. He told members of the Faculty that he has come back with a new passionate to support the effort of Dr. Browne and the Faculty for the growth of the University.
He made these assertions on October 25, 2019 at the induction ceremony of 17th Cuttington University Student Legislative Council.
