CU PRESIDENT DESIRES SCHOLARSHIP BENEFICIARIES TO BE VIGOROUS IN THEIR STUDY

On November 25, 2019, the President of Cuttington University, Dr. Herman B. Browne, challenged students benefiting from his scholarship at Cuttington to be more vigorous in their study, if they would maintain the scholarship.

“If you prioritize their studies, it will certainly lead to a more competitive academic environment as well as stimulate the desires of other students here.”

He spoke recently to a cross-section of students whom he considered as “The President’s Scholars” at the Epiphany Chapel on the University’s main campus in Suakoko, Bong County. Speaking further, the CU President challenged the students to exert more efforts as they continue to pursue their academic sojourn at Cuttington. Reminding his scholars of their responsibility, he acknowledged that they should equally enjoy the nomenclature “The CU Ambassadors;” as a number of ambassadorial duties will primarily be entrusted to their care at the University.

He noted that students who are currently beneficiaries of his scholarship program at CU should continue this as a great opportunity to develop their potential and intellectual qualities. He stressed that many other students benefited from the scholarship program in the past, some of whom were admitted on the scholarship from their freshman year to their senior or graduation year.

Historically, the President’s Scholarship was established at the institution with the sole purpose of giving young Liberian students the opportunity to study at CU, especially students who dare to face the future with vision and have the desire to contribute to the growth and the development of the University and Liberia at large.

As part of its criteria, the CU President’s Work Scholarship usually recruits students every academic semester on the basis of their academic competence, which involves their semester’s grade points and moral aptitudes displayed.

His administration remains committed to continuing the scholarship for students who are eager to learn in Bong County and Liberia at large; noting that under his stewardship as President of Cuttington University, he will do everything humanly possible to ensure that students attending the institution on his scholarship scheme develop the requisite academic proficiency and intellectual skills that will allow them compete with their counterparts.

Furthermore, the President of Liberia’s award winning University (CU) Dr. Browne argued that if Liberia should improve, educating well the next generation must not be underestimated.

For their part, some beneficiaries of the CU President’s Scholarship, who were present during the brief conference with the President, lauded him [Dr. Browne] for the opportunity that he continues to provide for them, assured him of their devotion to continue to maintain the scholarship through their hard study.

They vowed to buttress the effort of the administration of Cuttington University through voluntary services in order to pay back to the University while they pursue their studies.
